Highly anticipated: Nintendo's Switch is midway through its second year and sales continue to be incredibly solid.
While Sony expects to sell 17.5 million units before year's end, Nintendo is trying to be a bit more ambitious - selling 15 million consoles in the next three months is no small feat. It sold 3.2 million Switch units during the period, up from 2.9 million a year ago. In the last quarter, revenue grew to $1.96 billion compared to $1.95 billion for the same period previous year.
Over its lifetime between 2001-2007, the GameCube managed to sell a very respectable 21.74 million units. Despite announcing and releasing two paid content packs for Zelda, Nintendo has never formally said that it had finished working on the game. The outcome fell short of analysts' estimates but qualified as the company's best quarterly result in eight years.
My take as a lot of this is too clandestine to make a definitive statement on: the 3DS rocks and if it died tomorrow it lived a good life.
