Running back Kareem Hunt acknowledged that he misled the Kansas City Chiefs about his role in a February assault in a Cleveland hotel that ultimately led to his release this week. The NFL did not reach out to Hunt or the woman during their investigation.
As teams decide whether to claim running back Kareem Hunt on waivers by Monday at 4:00 p.m., ESPN will give Hunt a platform for persuading someone to pay him not to play.
In the course of a few hours, Hunt went from preparing for Sunday's game in Oakland to being sent home from the practice facility. The NFL doesn't have the best reputation for letting that last long, though.
"I realized what I did once I saw the video, and it was really tough to watch", he said.
The reason there's weren't any charges filed in February is because there were two police reports filed from the incident with one listing Hunt as a suspect and another that listed the woman as the suspect.

Reid referred to a statement the Chiefs issued upon releasing Hunt and said little other than to indicate that the decision to cut Hunt was a hard one.
The Star has also been unsuccessful in attempts to contact the woman who was shoved and kicked by Hunt.
What happens now? Hunt appears to want to acknowledge his wrongdoing with the intention of beginning his suspension as soon as possible.
"Honestly, I just want to let the world know how sorry I am for my actions", Hunt said.
The police were called to the scene during the February 10 incident, but no charges were filed.
The NFL placed Hunt on the commissioner's exempt list earlier Friday night. Riddick says the NFL's credibility "takes another hit" after the league ended up having to play catch up, similar to the Ray Rice situation.
Hunt has apologized for his actions but is expected to face a lengthy ban. On Nov. 24, Reuben Foster of the San Francisco 49ers was arrested and charged with first-degree misdemeanor domestic violence - his second arrest this year on domestic violence charges.
"Kareem being a friend of mine, I think the impact is just that - Kareem as a person, " wide receiver Chris Conley said. "I'm so respectful to everyone and I made a bad decision at that time and I just hope that people will forgive me".
