The Kremlin confirmed Putin's note by issuing a statement on Sunday, saying: "In a Christmas and New Year greeting message to President of the United States of America Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin stressed that Russia-US relations are the most important factor behind ensuring strategic stability and global security, and reaffirmed that Russia is open to dialogue with the United States on the most extensive agenda".

The Russian minister also noted that the USA openly state the need for the containment of Russia, China, Iran and North Korea.
In his holiday message, Putin congratulated US President Donald Trump on the occasion of Christmas, reported CNN.
In late November, Trump suddenly abolished the scheduled meeting with Putin at G20 Summit in Argentina, referring to the tension around the capture of Ukrainian warships by Russian Federation.
