"With the first CLA we created a totally new segment with a four-door coupe and celebrated a huge success by selling some 750,000 CLA and Shooting Brake", said Britta Seeger, Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG, responsible for Mercedes-Benz Cars Marketing & Sales.
The Consumer Electronics Show, held annually in Las Vegas in the month of January, is no longer just a showcase for new technologies; it's also where some manufacturers choose to reveal their latest tech-laden new models.
"The new edition of the CLA has been developed further in an intelligent way and is even more emotional and sportier than its predecessor".
The interior is a near-copy of what you find in the new A Class, set to debut imminently in North America.
On that note, the CLA is a good 139mm longer and 7mm lower than the A-Class sedan, while riding on the same 2729mm wheelbase, and in practical terms it offers similar headroom in the front but 36mm less in the back thanks to that sloping roofline, while the boot actually swallows 40 litres more (460).
The year 2019 will mark 25 years of operations of the Three Pointed Star in India. The simple surfacing on new Mercedes models continues, but with hard-defined edges, especially on the sides, and over the bootlid into the rear bumper. The new CLA has also been honed in the wind tunnel to have a drag coefficient of 0.23, very close to the previous car's 0.22 Cd, despite a larger frontal area.More news: U.S. damage control in the Middle East - Politics - Egypt

While the CLA always had a very sexy interior, the new CLA gets an upgrade on that front too.
The rest of the interior is almost identical to the A-class, with a funky dashboard design, two standard 7.0-inch screens (10.3-inch units are optional), and a more playful use of materials than in other Benz models.
The vehicle on stage at CES was the CLA 250, powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged, four-cylinder unit with 225PS/350Nm under the belly. As for wheels, the available range starts from standard fit 16-inch units right up to 19-inch models.
Displayed at the CES is the CLA 250 with its four-cylinder petrol engine delivering 225 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque, married to a 7G-DCT dual-clutch transmission.
Power is expected to come from the same engine line-up found lurking under the recently launched A-Class. Automatic emergency braking, active lane control, and blind-spot monitors will be spend-up extras, but Mercedes says that the CLA-Class will be able to drive itself "semi-autonomously in certain situations", though it didn't say for how long or what those situations may be.
