The San Antonio fans were loud and exactly what you want to see from a fan base of a new league. Because NFL teams use this period to evaluate needs on their team and how they can construct a financially-viable roster for the following season, they cannot only look at drafting college players to fill position needs, but will perhaps also consider signing AAF players who are having particularly good seasons against almost-as-good competition. That was a better TV audience than a competing National Basketball Association game on NBC at the time, which is a pretty solid debut for a league that launched with limited promotion. Another change to increase the pace of play is a decrease in play clock time, going to 30 seconds between plays instead of the NFL's 40 seconds.
AAF action will continue on Saturday night with two more games, and after an opening week in which they dominated the newscycle, you can bet Tisch and other big National Football League names will be more likely to tune in and see what's going on. College standouts Steve Spurrier, Mike Riley, and Dennis Erickson are at the helms of teams. This is, quite simply, a quarterback who does not appear to be ready for anything approaching professional football, and while that's unfortunate, it's also the reality of things.
With a high level of play and enough exposure, there's a very good chance the AAF succeeds. The Apollos' defense had three sacks and three interceptions, including two by linebacker Terence Garvin.
Hackenberg was benched late in the contest, as quarterback Brandon Silvers replaced him in the second half of the fourth quarter.More news: Significant snow, freezing rain, strong winds threatening Tuesday: Environment Canada

With the NFL season over, football diehards usually turn their eyes toward a shadow of what they just turned off: draft coverage. CBS aired regional coverage of San Diego-San Antonio and Atlanta-Orlando.
The AAF allows only five players to rush on pass plays, and they can only rush from the tackle box.
Wolford had some great throws throughout the game. Now ahead 12-6, the Commanders went for the two point conversion, but were unsuccessful.
