And while the domestic clash may not make its presence felt on the foreign battle field - where 156,000 troops stormed Normandy's beaches and smashed Hitler's Nazis, turning the Second World War in the allies' favor and leading to the liberation of Europe a year later - there is plenty of fodder waiting stateside.
