Housed in a nano-coated polycarbonate body with 145.96 x 70.56 x 9.3mm dimensions, the Nokia 2.2 sports a 5.71-inch IPS LCD panel with 19:9 aspect ratio. The bezels around the display are narrow but the chin is slightly thick. Having said that, the overall finish feels alright, but not on par with Nokia's standard. One thing to note is that you get a USB-C port in the Nokia 3.1 A and 3.1 C which the company has not given in any of its budget phones such as the Nokia 1, 2, 3, and 4 series in Europe and elsewhere. Mobile photography is made better with Google Lens and AI imaging. The long-press takes you to Assistant walkie-talkie mode, which we are yet to test. You get super-thick screen bezels rather than the discreet waterdrop notch of the global Nokia 2.2, as well as a cheap plastic construction, a relatively modest Snapdragon 429 processor under the hood paired with 2GB RAM, and 2,990 mAh battery capacity that the manufacturer says should be enough for two days of autonomy.
The phone is powered by the Helio A22 chipset with a quad-core CPU and either 2GB or 3GB RAM. This makes the smartphone stand out the most in comparison to other entry-level options in the market, a huge selling point. But I'll reserve my judgment till I review the smartphone. On the software front, it offers Android Pie out-of-the-box. With the rendered images already showing the absence of a fingerprint reader, users will have to rely on the face unlock feature for biometric security.
Like HMD Global's previous phones, Nokia 2.2 is an Android One-branded smartphone. Whereas, the front bears a 5-megapixel selfie shooter for selfies. Stick around for our full review that'll be coming soon. Customers of the Nokia 2.2 can customize its appeal by using changeable Xpress-on covers.
