Prior to the leak, there were rumors in May that Martin would be a game consultant for Dark Souls developer From Software. Unfortunately, following its CG reveal trailer, details on the game itself were slim.
Elden Ring does not now have a release window, but is slated for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Martin teased that he "consulted on a video game out of Japan" - and now the trailer for that game has arrived. "That which commanded the stars, giving life its fullest brilliance, the Elden Ring... oh Elden Ring... shattered by someone or something". A more classical fantasy title was considered, but as Miyazaki puts it, "we wanted to create a new dark fantasy action RPG full of things that we weren't able to do in the Dark Souls series". It's a huge sprawling open-world action game with heavy emphasis on RPG elements. The trailer throws up more questions than it answers, but it looks like we're set for some rich lore which draws inspiration from Martin's mythological influences.

"Due to this, the scale of the world and its narrative, as well as the depth and freedom of exploration have increased dramatically".
According to the interview, development on the game began shortly after work had finished on the DLC for Dark Souls 3, slightly over three years ago. "It is without a doubt our biggest title yet in terms of sheer volume", explains Miyazaki.More news: E3 2019: Microsoft Officially Announces Next-Gen Xbox And It's Powerful

"Building the world of Elden Ring with Miyazaki-san and his team was a treat!" It was a wonderful source of stimulus for me and the development staff. Elden Ring's world was constructed using this mythos and stimulus as a base. Publishers Bandai Namco say it's "coming soon" but do they mean FromSoft "soon" or George R.R. Martin "soon"?
Also, Miyazaki confirmed the game would be hard, as all games by From are.
