SanDisk’s iXpand Flash Drive Will Move iOS Data

SanDisk aims to give Apple device owners what they want, where and when they want it.

SanDisk’s iXpand Flash Drive is the easiest way to transfer photos and videos between your iPhone, iPad, PCs and Mac Computers.  The compatibility works iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air, iPad mini, iPad with Retina display, and newer (iOS 7.1+).  It also includes compatibility with Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Mac OS X v10.6+.  One can quickly free up memory on their device and instantly expand storage capabilities.  The seamless file transfers between for the iXpand Flash Drive is powered by the iXpand sync app, available through the App Store, which allows the devices to transfer photos, videos, and files easily between one another.  The app also allows one to play all popular video formats and music files from the drive.  Security is also a measure that has been accounted for with this product as it encrypts files across transfer and provides the opportunity to create a password that can be accessed by input of password or touch ID.  The product offers different storage sizes from the 16, 32, 64, or 128 GB allowing memory storage and space options.  Tests we conducted showed data moved easily and quickly on the iPhone 6s, but a little slower on older iPhones.

Moving data and large chunks of it off iPhones and iPads has been a problem for the typical user for years, so with more and more of our data on mobile devices, SanDisk has stepped up to the plate.

“According to IDC, nearly three-quarters of all images are now captured on smartphones and tablets1,” said Dinesh Bahal, vice president, product marketing, SanDisk. “With this significant increase in mobile-generated content, consumers are looking for easy ways to manage it all. In fact, our research shows that 82% of U.S. smartphone users find transferring photos, videos, music and other files to be very important to them2. We created the iXpand Flash Drive to offer consumers a quick and safe way to move their favorite content between devices so it’s available when and where they want it.”

The iXpand has a Lightning and USB 2.0 connector allowing moving videos and pictures between devices.  The lightning connector is durable and flexible allowing it to be better placed with phones cases.  The supported video formats include wmv, avi, mkv, mp4, and mov.  The size of the iXpand, with dimensions of 64.17mm x 36.78mm x 11.80mm, allows for simple and quick transfers of files on the go.  It fits in the palm of your hand, or alongside your phone in your pockets so it is not a hassle to have at hand.  The product comes pre-charged and ready to use with a Li-ion battery (3.7v).  A light is also on the drive which provides different signals and information.  If the light is blinking it means do not remove the device as a file transfer is in progress.  Green light means charged, red light means low battery and needs to be plugged into a USB port, and the amber light means it is charging.  The iXpand line starts at $99.99 and goes up from there.
